I've been a GitS fan for a long time. Although the two films are classics, it was the Salinger-referencing Stand Alone Complex that truly won me over.
I enjoyed most of the Ghost in the Shell because they combine good storytelling with food animation, and this, was not that.
I wasn't very optimistic going in, but I ended up enjoying almost every episode. The story is gripping and left me wanting to continue watching.

Yes, the CG animation and weird beer drinking, care-free attitude of the characters in the first 10-15 minutes of the first episode is extremely off-putting. I can't really explain the behavior and I don't think this animation style works in bright Palm Springs desert lighting without feeling cheap.
I must have stepped into the wrong show. There is no stand alone complex here, just a post apocalyptic rehash of Appleseed with GitS characters doing roleplay.
Ignore the poor reviews, the poor rating (6.7 at the time of writing).
I had to review this for all the reviewers who left one-star reviews after watching just the first 15 minutes. Those minutes are without a doubt very bad.
I at first thought to shy away at this title do to the CG that made up this show , but after about 15 min I really started to get into this show, and before long the same philosophical standpoints the original series made you feel were resurrected. The CG in my opinion looks great, not as good as the OG 2D show but still gorgeous.
