Nasa astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder) gets caught in a wormhole and travels to the far side of the universe. He joins with a group of escaped prisoners on board a living spaceship.
Sci-fi this creative isn't being made anymore. Farscape took a lot of chances that shows today wouldn't even dream of taking--which is why science fiction is at a low point on television and so completely watered down these days (2016)--no one is willing to take any creative chances, so we end up with teenage dramas like Dark Matter, rather than creatively fascinating shows with living ships, plant people, criminals, and a rich, vibrant universe teaming with life and lush opportunities for amazing story telling.
I never watched this series before and now I started to watch a few episodes. Its seems that the writer has copied Frank Hebert (Dune) in the first episodes.
Its unbelievable how long for me to realize the existence of a great sci-fi like "Farscape". Farscape was one of kind because it has its own originality and unforgettable cast of character.
So sad the shows producers were told they would definitely have both a season 4 AND a season 5. Yet, in typical SyFy fashion, they either lied or changed their minds.
This show is a diamond in the rough, as it is more daring than a lot of other scifi shows, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. The characters are complex and flawed.
How does this have a high rating of 8.3!
One reviewer said Farscape has muppets. Muppets?
Acting, sets, alien make-up/ costumes, Special Effects, stories... Everything about this Great Show, Top Notch.
