Control Room

Control Room is a documentary covering key figures within Al Jazeera just prior to and during the invasion of Iraq. It is a refreshing reminder that a documentary can make its point without someone whispering in your ear what you should be thinking.

I saw this film for the first time last night. In addition to being an incredible work, "Control Room" is an illuminating documentary on how, in short, different the perspective is at the wrong end of the guns.

I think control room was a much better movie than fahrenheit 911. control room had a much better way of illustrating the facts than fahrenheit 911.

Having known many Arabs and Iraqis over the past four decades, I would say Al-Jazeera reports pretty much the way my friends from the Middle East think. Does anyone actually believe that if Al-Jazzera did not exist, Arabs would have a totally benign view of United States Middle Eastern foreign policy and our invasion of Iraq?

The first thing I did after seeing this movie was tell my girlfriend to see it too, because I wanted to talk about it. This is definitely not a perfect documentary, but it is very engrossing and worth the dialogue.

I enjoyed watching this, and they make some valid points - they broadcast to their people the way we broadcast to ours, they want to show the damage of war, they're journalists first, etc. All quite interesting.

I went to see "Control Room" as a sort of a keep-informed duty and because I had heard how good it was. I did not know what a rare experience I was about to enjoy.

It's March 2003. Al Jazeera is riding a new wave of Arab satellite TV with 40 million viewers.

Jehane Noujaim's Startup.com was heralded as one of the best films of 2001, and Control Room more than deserves the same praise in 2004.
