Comrade Detective

Wasn't enough we lived this 40 years? Do we still like to hear the worked "comrade"?

Lame...not funny at all!

Having the "privilege" to live most of my youth years in Communist Romania, I must say the the producers did a great job to create the atmosphere of those times. The costumes, the cars, the buildings everything is just perfect.

This show is awesome. Tongue firmly in cheek, Comrade Detective chronicles the patriotic exploits of good Communist cops Greghor Anghel and Iosif Baciu, while turning the American cold war era flag-waving capitalist propaganda we know and love on its head in a most satisfactory manner.

The good: Some good cinematography, a very good premise (being that a forgotten but acclaimed 1980s Romanian anti-capitalist propaganda series has been restored, dubbed by English actors and re-released). The soundtrack was also quite good.

Whoever came up with the premise of Comrade Detective deserves The Order of Lenin. It's a sublimely clever concept for a TV series.

The Romanian actors did a great job. The series has some comedic value.

An interesting (as a very anti-American / anti-Western/Capitalism) curio. Ruined by dubbing and consolidated with (let's be generous and say ) 'less-tham-good' acting and corny dialogue it's, in fact, strangely worth watching.

I really wanted to like this.I thought the premise was great, take an old series and produce again current translated dialog.
