The chess board on which Stravinsky and his son are playing is set up incorrectly.

Any chess playing Russian would know that the light colored chessboard square should be on the lower right.

In the opening scene in Chanel's apartment, the year is 1913.

The record she is playing is the song, "You Made Me Love You.

" While the song was written in 1913, the version on her record player is the 1941 big band version by Harry James and Helen Forrest.

While the film presents the premiere of "The Rite of Spring" as if it took place in the beginning of the program for the evening, in fact it was preceded by another ballet, titled "Les Sylphides".

Reviews

CC&IS starts off well, but soon after the good beginning it becomes apparent that the only reason this was made was to show two people shagging. Some daily soaps and slightly more ambitious porn flicks have just as much depth.

Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky'I feel as if I hardly know you'--quote from Mrs. Stravinsky, and an apt description of how the viewer will probably feel about Mr.

COCO CHANEL AND IGOR STRAVISNKY is lavish, handsomely made, studiously well acted -- and pointless. For nearly two hours the viewer is immersed in the world of early twentieth century France in order to study an affair of little consequence between two great creative talents.

To me this film is not just about a man and a woman feeling immediate and undeniable passion towards each other. Also a genious woman seeing the genious in this man, understanding his full potential, where he could go professionally and pushing him to his edges no matter what so he reaches his creative peak.

According to some historians, the couturier Coco Chanel and the modernist composer Igor Stravinsky had a brief affair in the early 1920s. Stravinsky was married with a family while Coco was unattached.

From the exquisite kaleidoscope at the beginning to the sets and costumes, this film is a feast for the eyes, especially with the recreation of the notorious opening of "Le Sacre de Pintemps". the affair probably did not happen, she said it did, he said it didn't, but Chanel needed to whiten her image after living with a Nazi officer in Paris throughout WW2.

I am not particularly acknowledged with either Coco Chanel's or Igor Stravinsky's lives and careers, and frankly, I never bothered to investigate them in detail. That is until I saw this excellent motion picture...

The actress who played Coco Chanel in this film is much different than the Coco Chanel film. Of course, all actresses including Anna Mag here offer something to the complex legend and fashion pioneering icon Coco Chanel.

Definitely one of my favourite movies but then I am addicted to the music of contemporary composers Ravel, Debussy, Delius and Stravinsky and the other marvellous Russians Rachmaninov, Borodin, Tchaikovsky together with the Armenian Khachaturian… I have to say it is a work of art… This wonderfully detailed and superbly photographed movie is an special romance of music and love. We can all study the history of Chanel and the music of Stravinsky but to put it on film here is something extraordinary.
