This is the type of pensive film where you need to pay attention and absorb all details on the screen. The cinematography does Louisiana justice, with the unmistakable nature sounds and the evocative imagery of the swamps and cemeteries taking the viewer to a whole new realm full of mystery and enchantment.

BAYOU GHOST STORY is a very indifferent way to make a horror film, and it's shame it's so poor as the Louisiana setting is always an interesting one. What we get here is a predictable ghost story told via endless face-to-face camera interviews with a number of local interviewees.

An independent film doesn't have to have the flash or all-star case of a big studio film. But it does have to be incredibly smart with a strong story to tell.

A ghost haunts a family line of shirtless men in Mandeville, Louisiana researched and narrated by a man whose second language is English. The shirtless men who shower is perhaps a spoof of those films with women who shower, but overall the production failed to carry through any such satire.
