Trivia

Drummer for The Velvet Underground.

One of the first female rock musicians.

Worked at a Wal-Mart in Georgia for five years in the 1980s.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of The Velvet Underground ) in 1996.

Influences included Michael Olatunji and Bo Diddley ; before joining The Velvet Underground , Tucker would work during the day (key-punch operator), come home in the evening, and play along with LPs until bedtime.

Maureens brother, Jim Tucker, was a college friend of Sterling Morrison and Lou Reed ; when original The Velvet Underground drummer Angus MacLise quit suddenly, they remembered "Mo" could play, and she also had an amplifier, which they needed. She fitted in instantly, turning her bass drum on its side and playing standing up, when the band asked her to "do something different".

When Maureens drums were stolen after an early gig, she filled in by playing a set of trash cans and lids, fetched from the alley behind the club. Loosened garbage had to be swept up between sets.

Is portrayed by Samantha Maloney in Factory Girl
