Trivia

Commander of the Panamanian Defense Forces and dictator of Panama from 1983-89. Was deposed in a US-led invasion in December of 1989, after which he was brought to the US, tried on a variety of charges--including drug trafficking and money laundering--and imprisoned. During his trial it came out that he had been on the CIA payroll since 1967, while also taking money from Colombian drug cartels to use Panama as a transshipment point to smuggle drugs into the US.

Is survived by wife Felicidad and daughters Lorena, Sandra and Thays Noriega.
