Before becoming an actor, Zaremba was a reporter for the Grand Rapids (MI) Press and the Chicago (IL) Tribune. He moved to Hollywood in 1949 to start his acting career.

For years he portrayed the Hills Brothers Coffee Broker in television commercials for that brand.
