Besides television, Kemmer also played Commander Buzz Corey on ABC Radios "Space Patrol" (1952-1955).

A fighter pilot during World War II, he was shot down over Germany, captured by the Nazis and put in a POW camp. He later successfully escaped from the camp, although he was recaptured two weeks later. The camp was the same one from which a breakout occurred that was the inspiration for the Steve McQueen film The Great Escape .

Delivered his youngest daughter himself when she was born in the back seat of a taxicab.

Children: Jonathan, Todd, Kimberly.

He sustained a stroke on Friday, November 5th, 2004, and his physicians said he had a 50-50 chance of recovery.

A soap veteran in the 1960s and 1970s with regular roles on "The Clear Horizon" , "The Edge of Night" , "Somerset" and, notably, "As the World Turns" .

Studied acting at the Pasadena Playhouse after war service and appeared as Buzz Corey in both the TV and radio versions of "Space Patrol."

His final screen appearance was in the TV mini-series "Kennedy" , after which he retired.

Acted out the role of "Prince Phillip" in live action footage that was given to the animators to study for Disneys Sleeping Beauty .
