Prolific German character actor, seen in many TV crime series like "Tatort", "Derrick" and "Der Alte". In the 1950s and 60s, he had leading roles in several Edgar Wallace adaptations. Often portraying military types, he was noted for his starring role in "U 47 - Kapitnleutnant Prien" under the direction of Harald Reinl.
After completing his studies, he became an ensemble member of the Staatstheater Stuttgart for seven years.
Also noted as a director of radio dramas.
