Biography

Chris Benoit is a legend in his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, though we Wrestled all over the world and was a super star in The United States. Benoit held the WCW Tag Team title and Television title. He was considered for a role in X-Men as the Wolverine . His life ended in a very sad way on June 25, 2007 when he killed his wife and their son, before committing suicide. Chris was 40 years old.

Nancy had their first child together on Febuary 25, 2000, a son named Daniel Christopher Benoit.

Held WCW TV Title a couple of times, WCW Tag Title a few times and recently won the US Heavyweight Title

Because of how often he defended his WWF Intercontinental Title, Chris Benoit has been called the "fightingest" Interconinental Champion in WWF history.

Wrestled in Japan under a mask as The Pegasus Kid. After losing to Jushin "Thunder" Liger in a match, he unmasked himself as part of the stipulation. Shortly afterwards, he called himself Wild Pegasus.

When he began wrestling, he wrestled as "Dynamite" Chris Benoit, as a tribute to the Kid. He also began using the Diving Headbutt, one of the Kids trademark moves.

Chris Benoit held the WCW World title for less than a day. Because he left, with three others, he was forced to forfeit the title.

Since then, Benoit has feuded with A-Train, Eddie Guerrero, and A-Train again. He is now on the brink of a big feud with Brock Lesnar, the current WWE Champion, and made him tap out to the Crippler Crossface at Survivor Series 2003, and again on a preceeding SmackDown.

He joined the WWF in January 2000, as a member of the Radicalz with Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko. He became the Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania 2000.

He won the WWF Title on two occasions, once at Fully Loaded and once at Unforgiven 2000. However, both times the decision was over-ruled, and he is still yet to win the WWF/E title officially.

In June 2001, he suffered a severe neck injury that kept him out for exactly a year. He returned on a Raw in his hometown of Edmonton, and joined forces with Eddie Guerrero and Ric Flair.

Eddie and Benoit went to SmackDown in late 2002, where Benoit stayed ever since. He won the Tag Titles with Kurt Angle at No Mercy 2002, and wrestled in a MOTY contender against Angle at Royal Rumble 2003 for the WWE Title.

The second man to enter #1 and win the Royal Rumble (Shawn Michaels was the first), but now holds the record for being in a Rumble match the longest (over 61 minutes, former record holder was Ric Flair with almost one hour, while Shawn Michaels Rumble win was 48:37)

Trained by Stu Hart. Chris Benoit would work all week, then drive 185 miles south, from his Edmonton home, to Calgary, to the Hart House. After 6 months of the grueling training, Benoit made his debut for Stu Harts Stampede Wrestling.

Lost a tooth when he was pretending to wrestle with his dog as a kid. The dogs face hit him on the jaw, which knocked the tooth out. He never had a tooth inserted, because he though he would lose it again, when he started his wrestling-career.

He made sports entertainment history at the 2005 SummerSlam, when he defeated Orlando Jordan for the US Championship in just 25.5 seconds - the fastest US Championship victory in the celebrated 20 year history of the prestigious title.

Won United States Champion-belt from Mr.Kennedy via Crippler Crossface in his Smackdown re-debut 2006.

Was said to be a very private man. But the select few that knew him were best friends with him.

Was always very happy and excited to hear about a fellow wrestlers family.

Since his death, WWE has done all they can to distance him from anything he was ever a part of, ultimately pretending he never existed. His name appears in title and match histories and he has a very brief sector in the WWE Encyclopedia.

Was seriously considering returning from WWE and opening up his own wrestling school in Atlanta. Shirt and logo prototypes were even made.

Some former fellow wrestlers such as John Cena and John Henigan cant watch a Chris Benoit match.

Was set to win the vacant ECW Championship from CM Punk at Vengeance 2007. Unfortunately, that was the night he committed suicide and Johnny Nitro took his place.

When his familys bodies were found, WWE canceled the Mr. McMahon tribute show and his entire death story-line, refunded tickets, and had a tribute show for Chris Benoit. Many matches of Benoit from WWE and WCW were shown while his colleagues praised him. The next night on ECW, Vince McMahon stated that with newfound evidence, there would no longer be any mention of Chris Benoits name again. Countries that get weekly delays were presented with a feature of John Cenas best matches. On the WWE Network, Benoits tribute show is the sole episode of RAW that is not available.
