Yes I like the book so much.. Virginia Mayo was one of my actresses in that bygone era.
Got this one for mom. She loved it.
Where was the editor for this book? So much repetition & not well written.
I stumbled on this book via an Amazon suggestion, and bought it on impulse. Virginia Mayo wound up dictating/writing a fairly comprehensive and honest chronicle of her career, and what makes it really sing are her candid observations of past Hollywood greats and near-greats she ran into along the way.
Condition of book was worse than anticipated......the front and back covers were a mess and most of the pages in the bottom right hand corner were bent.
The paperback was in perfect condition, you could tell by her writing that she was not an other, but came across as a very honest writer....i enjoyed the book.
This is the life story of Virginia Mayo, the classic movie actress and dancer, as told to the author, L.C.
As Virginia's second cousin, I was surprised to learn that she'd written an autobiography (saw it referenced on IMDB) and was even more surprised to find in on Amazon. A nice piece of family history and I love her outspoken style and honest appraisals of some of the best known Hollywood personalities.
On the face of it, this might be considered a technically flawed book. Run on sentences, the authoress changing topics in a flash, contradictory statements, and goofy stuff like referencing back to the Barrymores ----- John, Lionel, and Eleanor(?
As a long time fan of this Lady, I was just very disappointed in her cynicism. For an actress who was so powerful and wonderful on the screen, it distressed me to read so much dessension in her book.
Intresting...it's an older Virginia Mayo talking to you about her life.
