I finished Silence today and honestly, I don't know quite what to think. I'm not sure I'm wowed or blown away with this novel.
Just as wonderfully heartbreaking as the first time I read it.
Uma das melhores historias que ja tive oportunidade de ler. Impressionante, impossivel parar.
This was a pick from a lady in our book club that is Catholic and wanted to read the book prior to seeing the movie. I have no idea how to rate this book.
Such a beautiful book. A thoughtful and powerful reflection on faith.
'The reason why darkness is terrifying for us, is that there remains in us the instinctive fear the primitive man had when there was as yet no light' A philosophical & inspiring book.
I was in the mood to read something really thought-provoking and by reading Silence, I got my wish. I was excited about this book but the more I read the more I realised how dull it is. Long descriptions, only one point of view, lack of female characters (what to expect, I guess those are silences as well...
Chen Mo remain silent, keep listening listen to yourself.
I rated this title high because of its writing, particularly the nature descriptions. I loved getting a peek at the culture and history of the Japan at this time period, something I'm totally unfamiliar with and I loved that it made me THINK.
Silence..Is the tale of persecuted Christians.
It is a rare book that compels me to read it cover to cover in one day. This is such a book.
