"Rivers offer the perfect framework for a storyteller, " writes Susan Stranahan. "They provide a beginning and an end with an obvious flow from one to the other. They neatly link people and events in history.

Nice book. A little dated, but give a nice overview of the Susquehanna, a key river feeding the Chesapeake bay.
This work provides interesting data on focused aspects of the Susquehanna. For example, there is a great condensed view of the canal building and its related politics, especially the competition, both political and economic with other States.
Already read book on prior occasion. I wanted a copy for our personal library.
I've lived within 10 miles of the Susquehann River for the last 19 years. I have driven along(or near) the entire length from Baltimore to Williamsport and then all of the North Branch and most of the West Branch.
I've spent the last 23 years enjoying the beauty of this river; not quite understanding how it has been tried and tortured over the last 400 years. Great writing, and a wonderful story to be told.
