I've had this book for years and recently reread it. Made me wonder whether Michael and Suzan Carson are still the raving lunatics they were during their killing spree back in the 1980s.
Richard Reynolds actually gets into the heads of two crazy people and lets the reader follow them on their adventures. You are prepared to hate them after the first chapter which is from the point of view of the victim's friends.
