Funny, warm, and an addictive read! The book is a celebration of individuality, and an affirmation of living life with freedom and zest.
This book is a real delight- fresh, funny and fun. A really charming little gem.
Kudos to first-time novelist Martin Gould. I knew from the first chapter when we meet our protagonist, the slightly flawed but lovable gay man Elliott Simon, that I would adore this book.
"Wishful Thinking" is an easy and enjoyable read- fun, entertaining, comical, not heavy.....appealing to both gays and straights.
Martin Gould has concocted a refreshing mix of humorous and clever stories. They center around the experiences and fantasies of Elliot Simon, a very likable, single, gay, man-hungry protagonist.
This first time novelist has a breezy way with his prose as he tells a series of episodic tales of his protagonist- a neurotic and endearing gay man (kind of like a male Carrie Bradshaw from SEX AND THE CITY). Some of the stories are really funny and some are more poignant and heartfelt but all are entertaining and enjoyable.
WISHFUL THINKING is truly a very funny novel. While reading it, I laughed out loud more times than I could count.
Apparently WISHFUL THINKING is this author's first novel and my question is: "What took him so long?" Mr.
I found this book reminicent of the hilarious books of the great Patrick Dennis. Coupled with the wry humor & sophistication of Paul Rudnick, it is a must read.
