A gritty, engrossing saga that will leave readers wanting more.In south London, at the beginning of the twentieth century, poverty haunts young Mabel Court’s family. Mabel acts as a ‘little mother’ to her brothers and sisters.
Maggie Bennett's first historical novel is one of those stories that is difficult to put down. I particularly liked the way she gives a little teaser at the end of her chapters about was is to come - good and bad.
