I work in a school for angry at risk junior and high school students... The prejudice between them is extreme, especially against the Muslims.
I have been successfully selling this book from my independent bookstore from the moment the book was off the press. It is informative for those at any level of "enlightenment", the illustrations are awesome, and it makes a really great gift.
Having been a major fan of the Sidney Pollak movie "Jeremiah Johnson," I noticed during the credits that this book and "Crow Killer" were the books that the movie upon which that movie was largely based. I ordered both of them, and I am glad I read "Crow Killer" first, as it turned out to be so incredibly far-fetched and needlessly and graphically violent that I just about didn't finish it, and I am by no means even a little squeamish.
This a a great book and my thanks to Kathleen for giving it to us. I bought extra copies to give to friends.
When I first saw this book, I smiled... of course, what a wonderful way to introduce the "Stars" of the many religions of the world not only to children, but a quick and fun review for adults.
I really love this little book. For starters, the artwork is great, crackles with energy and almost leaps off the page - it's really compelling.
