Recipes and stories arranged according to the liturgical seasons of the Eastern Church

. Kefi, loosely translated, is the Greek sense of joy, and is often found around the dinner table during large and boisterous family meals of Spanakopita, Keftedes , and much, much more. Largely considered a bit of a mystery to Americans, Greek cooking is far more expansive than simply prepping up a few gyro sandwiches and Greek salads.

Wanted more stories.
The writer uses the holiest feast of the Orthodox Church and the foods that we serve at those times to attack Greek Orthodox beliefs. The title is misleading.
A LOT OF RECIPES FOR THAT GREEK FAMILY GET TOGETHER.
Great book that lets you in on the Greek lifestyle. The author is thorough in her descriptions and brings the recipes to life.
A beautiful book with great recipes, pictures, and text....my Greek neighbor approves!
Clear and concise background for each recipe with detailed instructions, would more than welcome this book as a gift, exceptional for the greek culture.
This cookbook is chock full of fascinating stories and remembrances which makes it great reading. More importantly, each recipe is delicious and easy.
I am enjoying this book. Love the recipes and am trying them slowly.
Building the collection around liturgical theme gives structure to the book. Weaving the "stories" and cultural aspects throughout places the recipes and the foods in context.
Katerina brought me some delicious spanikopita and Greek green beans when my second child was born, so these are the first two recipes I tried. They were almost as good as Katerina's!
In "Around a Greek Table," Katerina Katsarka-Whitley paints a colorful picture of Greek culture, cuisine and associated traditions. Be sure to add it to your collection, and try some slightly different versions of "typical" Greek dishes.
This is my new, go-to Greek cookbook! I love the stories- they really bring the food to a whole new level.
I dont like to write reviews but I cant help myself with this one. REALLY a great cookbook!
This is the first cookbook I have purchased in several years, but Around A Greek Table is not 'just a cookbook'. It is history, family memories, beautiful photos, pictures painted with words - oh and great recipes, too.
Please take the opportunity to purchase Katerina's book: If you have a love of good food, an adventurous soul, or just love history, you will be very happy with your purchase. As I read her essays about life, liturgy, and the powerful history of her home country...
