About Laurent

Birthplace comes from signature on DR1962:0006 which reads: "Laurent architectus Trecensis." "Trecensis" is the Latin genetive of Troyes. Records for the Grand Prix give the names of two Laurents: Louis-Jean and Pierre, both of whom participated in the Grand Prix in 1730. Louis-Jean won the Grand Prix in 1735. Biographical sources list the name of Laurent (no first name) as winner of the Grand Prix in 1735, and as architect of the cascades at the chateaux of Brunoy (before 1763) and Chanteloup (after 1761).
