Solid, thorough presentation from a Carmelite and St. Thomas Aquinas perspective.
The book itself is very interesting, which is why I purchased a copy. I couldn't finish the hard cover interlibrary loan copy quickly enough before the due date.
Most people when speaking about spirituality in the modern age think in terms of something that is very wishy-washy. I've heard that phrase, "I'm spiritual but not religious" many times in the course of ministry.
This book was written by a well known catholic theologian. The book was new so it was in very good condition and it arrived promptly.
This is without a doubt the best resouce on spritual theology that I have read. In addition to thouroghly covering the topic, what I enjoyed most about this resouce is the methodical and complete way Fr.
This is a must read for one who honestly wishes to understand and grow in the spiritual life. It is challenging - both in its depth of content and its call to personal purification.
It is lamentable that this book is currently not in print (Feb 2006), as this is a must-have for all of those seeking a clear explanation of the spiritual life in accessible language and clear principles. Aumann is truly one of the best spiritual theologians that our age has to offer, and his work surpasses by far the work done by men like A.
