Excellent resource. It won't be the quickest of reads for non-scientists, but provides an incredible amount of both directly useful and background information for diabetics.
Too technical for me.
This should be given out with your first insulin script. Even a well informed diabetic can learn from this text.
Wish I had gotten this book 5 years ago. A must read if you are starting insulin.
This book helped me understand exactly how my insulin works with food and my body. I now understand my diabetes so much more that my A1C has dropped from 10% to 8% in the last 3 months.
Outdated.
I'm learning quite a bit about how to use insulin. My doctor is one of the authors and that's how i learned about the book.
As was on AMAZON:The material is reasonably well organized, adequately referenced, and presented in a clear, concise and understandable mannerThe book touches on the actual mechanics of how insulin works in the body, how different types of insulin work, and the mechanics and constraints of taking insulin. The Bad Points: It takes a little bit of work to read and understand it.
One of two books often suggested to diabetics being introduced to insulin therapy, "Using Insulin" suffers from the need for a major rewrite, but still has formulas and suggestions that are of use.The book discusses at length two insulins: Lente and Ultralente, that were discontinued about 8 years ago.
If you are using insulin.Or if you are contemplating using insulin.
A classic Diabetic guide!Great informations & examples!
Got this from recommendation of new endrocronoligist. Book was okay.
I purchased this because my Dad has recently had to start using insulin. I thought it would be good for him and also for us (his kids) to help understand more about Diabetes and Insulin.
A friend who recently went on insulin recommended this book to me. It has been so helpful to have the info in front of me to review, review, review.
This book is chock-full of tables, data, and formulae that will help you get your blood glucose under control with insulin.A few problems:Data is 10 years old and somewhat out of date.
