Love his music!!.
Refreshing. A great new perspective to all the World around us and inside us.
This book is waiting for a good journalist--a la Daniel Goleman--to turn it into a compelling blockbuster. The topic is fascinating, but I have never read a more rambling, verbose, and disorganized book as this.
Prof. Mayer tries to delineate personal intelligence from other forms of intelligence, as a definitely distinct attribute, and one that, at least in recent times, has become increasingly critical.
The title, the subject, the author's bio are all great but the contents are useless.Who cares about a 1,000 studies and their details but with cero useful conclusions?
As a student in the subject area of intelligence research, I am quite familiar with John Mayer's previous work with Emotional Intelligence. My familiarity with the subject and belief in it's powerful utility led me to be one of the first to get a copy of his Personal Intelligence book.
I won a copy of this book in a goodreads first reads giveaway. it took me a while to get through this book.
Storytellers need to know personality.
Personal Intelligence offers some real gems, such as the observation that statistical methods may have led us to inaccurately discount the role of personality in human behavior. Mayer points out that although statistical averages are useful for predicting overall performance, they are next to useless to predict behavior in a single event.
Goodreads win. Will read and review once received.
