Great information.
I first purchased this book back in 08 from a recommendation of a contractor I know. I started buying homes and rehabbing them and I wanted to learn more about waterproofing and my options.
A clear and comprehensive explanation of the causes of water leakage in the basement and recommended remedies. Helpful illustrations.
I purchased a new home a couple of years ago, and even purchased an "upgraded" treatment to the foundation to help avoid water problems. However, recently I still had an issue with water coming into the basement.
Mr. Masters's book gave a firm base for me to conduct extensive repairs on my flooded smelly Florida basement.
This is a guide to help a person to chose a contractor to redo their basement. It explains very well what causes the problems and also the possible solutions.
Excellent handbook with thorough descriptions of how waterproofing should be done. This information helps tremendously for the layman homeowner who may not know if their contractor is telling them the correct remedy or just trying to sell them their particular waterproofing system.
Just got off the phone with Jack after a week long email thread . On top of the valuable well laid out information you get prompt and responsive info from the author himself !
My basement flooded in March 2010, nearly 6 years after I had had it waterproofed by a "reputable company. I was getting so much mixed info about what to do next it was overwhelming.
I am in the process of getting estimates for a full basement waterproofing job. I would be very lost without this book.
Not being a mechanically inclined person, I found this book to be exteremly helpful and informative. Masters walks you step by step through the process, complete with diagrams and explanations.
Not only does this book do a great job of explaining waterproofing techniques, it prepares you for what you should expect from contractors providing quotes, both good and bad. Without this book as a guide, I probably would have folded to the hard sell tactics used by the first contractor I had out.
Does anyone know anything about basements? I didn't.
This book is sincerely written, but it is presented with the complete novice in mind. It's more like a softcover booklet, and written in an informal collaquial style.
This book is a "must" if you have water in your basement. It is easy to read and understand.
