Hugo Bergstrom was born in London in 1928, the second son of the opera singers Carl Bertram and Harriett Harcourt . Hugo's mother died when he was two, and his father and grandmother then looked after him.
This is a brilliant book. The author relates an entertaining and heart-rending historic account of his unusual childhood experiences in an actor's orphanage during the second world war period.
