This volume brings together poems from four decades of Geoffrey Hill's work.
Ca. 1880s, Hill, a painter, took up photography. He established a studio called "Hill & Watkins" in San Jose, California, with his mother-in-law Laura J. Broughton Watkins. Hill was the photographer while Watkins financed the business which lasted until 1891.
