This has been the first book I've been able to "read for fun" since finishing grad school and once I started reading, I truly devoured it in just a few days. James does it again with Hands of Darkness, as we follow Evelyn Barrett in her new job as a consultant to the San Diego PD.
This is the second book in this series, and the second I've read of Heather James's novels. I can't shout from the mountaintop that every person needs to read this book.
The only thing negative I can say about Heather James' writing and story telling, is that it is so great it keeps me up at night! It gets ahold of your imagination and won't let go.

I love reading hands of darkness. Evelyn Barrett, the main character, is witty, smart and has a great sense of humor.
I really enjoyed this suspenseful, amusing book! This book starts soon after the first one ended, with Evelyn Barrett pregnant and now working as a jury consultant.

I read book 1, Unholy Hunger, last year and really enjoyed it and so I was excited to read Hands of Darkness, which is book 2 in Heather James’ Lure of the Serpent series. This one begins looking into the mind of a man, a pure evil mind, one that had been abused and neglected at the hands of his attorney mother until at age 16 she threw him out and he began taking out his anger on women.
The following novel was sent to me free of charge in exchange for my honest review of it.Kregel Publications sent “Hands of Darkness” to me, which is the second book in the “Lure of the Serpent” series.
If you like suspense you'll love this book.We met Evelyn in Unholy Hunger – but you don't have to read it to thoroughly enjoy this book.

This is a difficult subject matter for me, but Heather James is a remarkable writer and I highly recommend this book. The main character is wonderful - I'd love to take her to lunch!.
