While it focuses on the whole Justice League from Batman Beyond's "The Call" episodes. This is basically a Batman Beyond comic.
Just before the animated Batman Beyond show ended in 2001, one of the final episodes introduced the Justice League of the future. We have had to wait over a decade to see that story and universe continue and this book delivers.
Definetly acknowledges Justice League Unlimited continuityTells a quality story as it goes, and I REALLY MEAN as it goes. And then there's also the Back up stories of AquaGirl, Kairo GL, Warhawk, and Barda.
Justice League Beyond is actually not set in the new 52 universe but instead is a continuation of the DC animated universe. Specifically Batman Beyond and Justice League.
Many will say you can never have too much of a good thing. This is definitely true when it comes to the world and characters featured in "Batman Beyond.
This is the best book that DC is publishing right now! Unlike the regular Justice League books, Justice League Beyond (a DC digital first book) does not feel the need to imbue itself with a sense of self-importance.
As far as reads go this is a really grat book but as a fair warning there's A LOT of build up one has to have do to fully appreciate it and I highly recommend doing it all first.First off, appreciating this story is very much hinged upon one having watched all the shows present in the DCAU (DC Animated Universe), or Timmverse (named after Bruce Timm, the continuity's most consistent creative influence) as some call it.
This was a lot of fun, I'm always a sucker for future stories and this combined that with my love of all things Jack Kirby for a very enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to the release of the next volume in 2014.
This is a different look at the Justice League to what I remember, way back, reading the original series. It is a pretty good story, (apparently) combining several different legacies.
