This is FUN! All ages friendly but I don't feel as if it isolates adults.
Upon opening the book I discovered that indeed it housed lil Gotham. Although part of me was hoping for the pages to be made of cash instead, I can honestly say I wasn't that disappointed it wasn't.
The main ‘draw’ for this book is the art style which looks like it is done with water colours and no inking. It is the exact opposite of superhero comic book art with a lot of white space, very little black and a ‘cutesy’ character designs.
I've loved the story and art since Li'l Gotham started, now I get to share it with my niece and nephews.
I love this so much. Can't wait for volume two.
This comic manages to be the cutest hommage to the world of Gotham I've ever seen! It's incredibly refreshing, funny, detailed, I couldn't recommend reading it more!.
Even with the mess the new 52 brought, Li'l Gotham delivers classic bat family goodness! Forever thankful for the smiles this title brings!.
What the heck did I just read??! I *thought* I was going to be reading a Batman aimed at little kids but then as I started reading I decided, no, this is a parody of Batman, aimed at adults, that kids could read but wouldn't get the adult jokes.
Firstly, Dustin Nguyen's art is simply adorable and it looks gorgeous. If this were simply a book of sketches, I would pick it up immediately.
One of my biggest issues with DC’s New 52 is the total lack of humour in their titles. They’re almost all “dark and gritty” comics that are unpleasant and not fun to read most of the time.
Some cute stories and jokes, but the art borders on creepy and just didn't work for me. I give DC points for trying to do more all ages stuff.
Quick Synopsis: All age holiday fun with all your favorite Batman characters! Heroes AND Villians!!
3.5 stars.
While I don't think this series was entirely intended for children, it would serve as a great introduction into the genre. The watercolor illustrations are the perfect touch.
