Tells Carre Otis' version of events surrounding her modeling career and relationship with actor, Mickey Rourke. +Rourke has been quoted as describing the relationship differently from Otis, who claims she was a battered woman.
I enjoyed this book. I liked how candid she was about her life.
A real eye opener. It made me feel all different kinds of emtions - pity, anger, hopefullness and even happiness.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well-written this book is. I really enjoyed reading it.
I have to hand it to Carre Otis: She does what few people are able to do. She completely vanquished her demons and changed her life and herself for the better.
I bought this book because Carre was dating Mickey Rourke at one time.I need to put in this review that I had forgotten Carre married Mickey Rourke.
I will totally admit that I grabbed this off the library shelf because I wanted dirt about Mickey Rourke (9.5 Weeks is the sexiest, most fantastic movie ever made).
[[ASIN:0062024450 Beauty, Disrupted: A Memoir]] Entertaining, educational, and a very easy read. Highly recommend it!!!
I thought this was going to be a typical modeling book about eating disorders and the pressures of trying to stay thin and beautiful. It was so much more.
Thank you Carre Otis... I just went through a rough breakup and for some reason decided to download your book while looking to fill up all the extra time I have since the breakup.
This book should be read by any young girl or parent of young girl going into the modeling business. I think Carre Otis should be congratulated for her frankness and honesty but one area that disturbs me is her attitude that size does not matter etc.
It is amazing how screwed up people that have everything can be. Carre' Otis shares the travails of one of the top models.
Carre's story is similar in a lot of ways to those of many models. A troubled teen, who left home at a young age and started in the world of modeling, only to fall victim to abuse of many kinds; drugs, sex, eating disorders.
I have always been an admirer of Carre Otis since she first came on the scene in the 80's. I always thought she had a very exotic, intriguing beauty.
I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the story written by Ms. Otis: the book is not a piece of fluff.
