We bought the book when it first came out. It was sane, exciting (catching and going through each psychological stage of development) and laid a wonderful groundwork for raising our sons.
He is absolutely correct on his viewpoint "that full-time substitute care is not in the "best interest of babies."" Anyone who argues this is arguing against nature and all of human history.
Helpful resource with young kids.
I have given thus to many, many new families. My three daughters have used it often to watch for times to change activities and for which toys are good for the various ages.
Great book. I now have to find time to read since my children are just 1 year and the 2nd just a week old.
Great book, but the paper is not of very high quality and the black lettering on natural tone need lots of light. Maybe an ebook would be better.
I found this book at a garage sale and read it while our two girls were at this age. Very good, sound advise.
This was my bible when my first was born 35 years ago. I ordered it recently when my daughter had her fist baby and was completely satisfied.
We heard about this book actually through another book called Super Baby Food. It has lots of excellent advice on food, parenting etc!.
Buy this and Raising a Happy Unspoiled Child before you have children. If you already have kids, then buy them now.
This is a great book, very good science. It really picks up at 3 months.
I have used this book for over 30 years to determine what's typical in my children's development and what needs attention. It's great!.
I trusted what the author said, and would like to follow it. Many useful suggestions.
I used this book to raise my three smart and successful grown children. It is a no nonsense, important book.
This book had very practical advice that any parent can implement. It was not full of new age touch feely mumbo jumbo, but takes a more scientific approach to child rearing.
