When I first bought this book of sheet music, I dismissed it at once as inaccurate and threw it aside. After all, anyone can hear that in the famous opening riff to "Don't Fear the Reaper," the fourth note is tied to the first note of the second beat, so that we hear "Ta-ta-ta-TAA-ta-ta-ta," while in the notation in the book, all notes are of equal length.
I bought this book for my dad and he loved it. It has tabs which is what my dad uses and a good song selection.
Some of the tab positioning seems off to me but very good. Some things played on B and G strings seem more likely played down in a lower position on the E and B string.
While I am not a bigtime fan of Blue Oyster Cult, there are two or three songs that I really like. One of my favorite all-time songs is "Burning For You," and was the reason that I bought the book.
Imagine my excitement at discovering that there is a BOC tab book. Imagine my disappointment at discovering that it does not include Then Came the Last Days of May, which contains the finest guitar playing they ever recorded.
I got this for my 18 year old son's Easter basket. He loved it.
Buck Dharma is truly an incredible guitarist. This book is the guitar tablature from their early 90s release Cult Classics, re-workings of some of the best songs.
I WISH I WERE IN CHARGE OF MAKING THIS CD. I WOULD REPLACE THE REAPER AND GODZILLA'S TV MIX WITH MAYBE "WINGS WETTED DOWN" OR "SEVEN SCREAMING DIZBUSTERS.
This is a really wonderful addition to anyone's Guitar Tab collection. A collection of BOC's best songs are placed in an easy to read format for all guitarists.
