About Bill Willingham

In the late 1970s to early 1980s he drew fantasy ink pictures for the Dungeons & Dragons Basic and Expert game rulebooks. He first gained attention for his 1980s comic book series Elementals published by Comico, which he both wrote and drew. However, for reasons unknown, the series had trouble maintaining an original schedule, and Willingham's position in the industry remained spotty for many years. He contributed stories to Green Lantern and started his own independent, black-and-white comics series Coventry which lasted only 3 issues. He also produced the pornographic series Ironwood for Eros Comix.

Reviews

I know the reviews have been mixed, but I for one loved this book. it was darker than the first, had a great backstory.
- just not this. The stories so far have progressed well, with creative reuses of traditional storybook characters.
So, I'm still enjoying "Jack" though it is not nearly as good as "Fables". Jack is not exactly a likable character but there are times when one can't help but laugh along with him and hope he gets out the mess he's in.
This book has two stories. First it tells us about how Jack became Jack Frost.
The second book of the series that I have read; the Jack tales are told very well and in an amusing narrative. This collection follows his recent escape from a Fable prison and his subsequent marriage to *give away*.
Jack of Fables is a fun read and the Fables books are different from most every other comic out there. Definitely more adult themed, if you're easily offended this is not for you.
This is a worthy addition to the ongoing collection of stories of the Fables world of Bill Willingham, here assisted by Matthew Sturges. I have to confess that it is perhaps my least favorite of all of the Fables books, but it is a testament to just how good the series as a whole is that I still like it very much.
Very well written. I am a big fan of this off shoot to the Fables graphic novel.
This Jack is adorable, he just makes me laugh my arse off. As for the plot and narration, it's always up, surprising, inventive and awesome!
The second trade paperback collection of this equally successful spin-off of Bill Willingham's FABLES doesn't flag or disappoint in the least. The wildly imaginative adventures of Jack Horner in all his many and varied "Jack-hoods" is intricately plotted and beautifully written.
"Jack of Hearts" is the second graphic novel of the Jack of Fables series. The stories were written by the able and gifted duo of Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges.
This second volume of Jack of Fables, has more adventures of the charlatan and trickster. This time in Las Vegas.
Jack proves his appalling nature by corrupting the Snow Queen and therefore making her one of the villains of Fables. At least he gets slapped by a lot of women who are too sensible to fall for his pick up lines.
This spinoff series is starting to make me worried that I liked the Fables series at all. Jack is an awful character and is completely unrelatable even in a voyeristic sense.
I still can't stand Jack... Ugh.
