About Akimi Yoshida

Yoshida is best known for the series Banana Fish. She twice won the Shogakukan Manga Awards for shōjo, for Kisshō Tennyo in 1984 and for Yasha in 2002. In 2007, she received an Excellence Award for manga at the Japan Media Arts Festival for Umimachi Diary.See also 吉田 秋生..

Well I finally finished reading this manga series... having picked it up a few years ago and slowly finding time to pick up another volume here and there.
This series is one that gets better with age. The story telling, in the last three volumes especially, is superb.
The only reason I gave this volume 4 instead of 5 stars was because of my favorite character dying. Other than that I absolutely loved this series.
I really enjoyed this story. I really wished it did not end the way it did but in a way I see why the auther wanted it to be this way.
