Although it is totally outdated by now. Pretty well-known info and vague insights and suggestions.
I have read hundreds of books on fashion, modeling, and photography. I saw this one and thought "hmmm I havn't read this one yet".
I picked up this book after my agent asked me to start focusing on commercials (and commercial modeling). It really re-iterated a lot of great stuff that I've learned on the job as an actor as well as shed some light onto some new tips and tricks.
I recommend "How to Become a Successful Commercial Model" to anyone starting out in this business. The author details every facet of commercial modeling, no matter how small, and does so in a very open and honest manner.
I would highly reccomend this book to anyone starting out in the commercial modeling industry. It is a must have as far as industry handbooks!
I read this book hoping that it would give me some insight into the field that I was embarking on. I found the book to be an easy reader.
Aaron Marcus knows the ropes and has a much more rare commodity, he is willing to share his knowledge of a complex, competitive and challenging industry. Read "How to be a Successful Commercial Model" and learn how to from a pro who really does know.
I had no idea how to go about getting into the modeling business, I purchased this book and read it cover to cover the first day. It covered every question I could think of and then some, definatly will pay for itself!
I really enjoyed reading "How to Cecome a Successful Commercial Model! I highly recommend this book!
This book is an easy to read, comprehensive guide on what a beginner needs to know to launch a career in commercial modeling. It covers a variety of areas and gives specific examples of whatever it is they are referencing ex) contracts, checklist, etc.
This book is NOT worth the money that the publisher has set. The Complete Idiot's Guide to being a Model is $10 cheeper and ten times better.
Little known fact (unfortunately): most models are not fashion models. That makes most books written on modeling of little use to most people trying to get into the industry.
This book was full of helpful knowledge and ideas. The only thing negative would be that some of the topics were out of date.
I was willing to pay the price of the book if it would bring success as it advertised and with the many positive reviews i felt i couldn't go wrong. The book did contain some useful information, but nothing which i hadnt previously read in a much cheaper book.
Reading this book should be mandatory for anyone looking to enter the commercial modeling business. I read "How to Become a Successful Commercial Model" in November of 2004 and I can honestly say I don't know what I would have done without it.
