Alone with a Jihadist will help you rethink some basic primises of the Judeo Christian culture today especially regarding a non-violent response to our enemies. Aaron digs into scripture and illustrates this with current day culture.
After reading this very powerful and intense book I knew I wanted to interview this author on my tv show. This book took me out of the usa into a place I had never been before.
I'm still not 100% sure I agree, or *want* to agree with some of the conclusions in Alone With a Jihadist. However, it is a great read and is forcing me to seriously think about what I believe and more important why I hold to those truths.
This book is very impacting and timely for the days that we live in. Everyone needs to read this book as it will help you to understand what's really going on in the jihadist mind.
I am an avid reader. Few times, however, do I begin reading a book and experienced the "can't put it down" phenomenon.
To say that I was skeptical of the book's message when I first received it would be putting it mildly. I have been raised a conservative, evangelical Christian, taught that God and country are inextricably intertwined, and that redemptive violence is the only solution to the world's problems.
I have an MA in Intercultural Studies with a focus in Islamics and I teach intercultural communication at Oregon Institute of Technology. After reading Aaron Taylor's book I've started recommending "Alone with a Jihadist" to all the Christians in my class.
At the risk of being a spoiler, the last paragraph in Aaron D. Taylor's book, Alone with a Jihadist, left me with such optimism, I must reveal it now.
Being a fellow SearchWarpian, I have been familiar with author Aaron Taylor's works for several years now, but never have I read a more profound and gripping novel as his Alone With A Jihadist. As a practicing Christian, I can relate to the Christian perspective of this work and can only marvel at the depth to which Aaron has delved in an endeavor to open the eyes of Christians and Muslims alike.
